Paper Boardgames

Online for Use With Miniatures

by Marc Shefelton

Mike Fischer has designed a series of paper board games that convert easily to miniatures. They are on his website, which is at: www.naisp.net/users/mfischer/m_stuff7.htm. His games include:

Gators

This one involves an amphibious attack on the small island nation of Unnarstan. Unnarstan's government has been overthrown by rebels. You are either the rebels trying to maintain control of the nation, or you are Americans (Commander of a Marine Expeditionary Unit) attempting to put the rightful government back in power. This game has a huge variety of units, and it can be played in about 4 hours or so.

A chief warrant officer in the USMC even uses this game for training exercises. Convert the hexes to inches in order to convert it to free form movement. Another excellent game by Mike Fischer!

Airborne

I would like to tell you a little bit about Mike Fischer's game called Airborne. This game simulates an attack by the United States' 101st Airborne against rebels in a small, land-locked country. This game also has a large variety of units on both sides, and has some of the best game mechanics I've seen. As with his other games, you can convert the hexes to inches for free form movement and the use of miniatures.
