by Great Lakes President Tom Bryant
Well, another year has come and gone. The snow has already fallen here in western Michigan, and we are waiting for the arrival of St. Nick -- now barely a month away. Painting chores await, as well as planning for next year's conventions. On the whole, given some of the adversity we faced this year, we didn't do too badly. Warparty and Warband both proved successful, again. Drums was a success despite really depressing weather (that was May? It felt more like March!) and the fact that Capcon was held the same weekend in Columbus. Origins was also another great moment for us. We had more excellent events and attendees for them. Finally, there was our signature event, Advance The Colors. ATC this year was the first time at a new location and it was yet another excellent convention. True, the numbers were a bit lower, and there was some confusion, but those things are small issues and will be taken care of in the next ATC. On the subject of ATC, I do need to ask for some help, folks. For the past few years, we on the board have been receiving complaints about the quality of our Dealer area. We really, really need your help on this one, folks. We have some ideas as to who we want to see, but we need you to send in your suggestions, too. Please feel free to e-mail any of the Board members (or me -- Editor) or snail mail us with your ideas. If you can't do that, give me a jingle. My phone number is (231) 798-3317. It's better to get a hold of me after 5 pm. I have an answering machine, so please leave me a message. Folks, we have a great organization, and I believe that we have the best chapter of all HMGS. Let's keep up the good work. Now, I must get back to my painting and modeling tasks. There is so much to do, and the winter season is far too short. Ladies and gentlemen, good luck and good gaming!
