Colby Update: "It's now around Easter and Spring has finally set in. Drums along the Maumee 5 will be May 14-15, and we are rushing to get all the pieces in place. Conventions: January saw a return trip to MichiCon with the Metro Detroit Gamers. We ran our Space Infantry Game with Tom Trotter. Jim ran his WW II Arnhem cityfight -- a bloody mess, as usual. Regretfully, Doug lost his voice and could not run his Big Metal Spaceship game with Roy. At Battlefields in Westland, MI, Tim and Jim run a Darkest Africa Battle for the Pro or Con Group. Several Dealers and GMs for Drums are contacted at the show about coming to Toledo. Steve Straub went with us and ran a 15mm Nappy Game. Dennis hit BashCon to run Silent Death. The Johnson triplets ran a few battles at the Seven Years War Convention in South Bend, IN.

Projects: The seeds of "Finding Captain Nemo" were created for this coming Drums. Tim Weber is at the controls of this, and it looks like it will be memorable. Many, many new ideas were tested for this game during the lull before the convention season. New terrain was also made this winter for several of our games (a lot of it will be featured in Nemo). Dennis acquired a supply of magnets for our 15mm project -- more later on this.

Gaming Nights: Victor Hiris moved down from Michigan and has begun to play with the Colbys on Wednesday nights. We tried "Battleball" and "Formula DE," this winter. I kept losing -- no guns to fire!

Drums 5: The Flea Market for Drums will be up and running again, this year. Bring the stuff you can't live with and maybe somebody will decide it is something they can't live without! A Raffle is planned, and the infamous Colonel Colby 50/50 Drawing will run again. Several New Dealers will be at Drums 5, as well as some new GMs that have not attended our shows lately. Gordon Andrews and company will again fight the Boxer Rebellion at both days of Drums. Come and see the HUGE table of the Peking Legations with hundreds of 25mm troops! Schedules are hectic in May, but do try to come to Drums! I should be at three different functions on May 15, but I will be at Drums! Now...where is my Pith Helmet?" -- Colonel Colby Street Irregulars
