ATC Moving to New Site

2004

by Steve Smith

Advance The Colors '04 is moving to a new venue and new dates! The new dates are Sept. 10-12. The new venue will be The Heritage Center of Clark County, Springfield, OH. The Heritage Center is the headquarters of the Clark County Historical Society. It is a multi-function site with historical displays, theater, exhibition gallery, coffee cafe and meeting rooms. The Board believes it will be a great location for us, with the added benefit of working with people who are history-related like us. Plus, it's $1000 less than the old location!

The Convention hotel will be The Springfield Inn, which is right across the street from The Heritage Center. It is undergoing renovation that will be finished in June, at which time it will be a Marriot hotel with all refurbished rooms and facilities. We have a block of rooms set aside for us, at $69 per night plus tax -- not bad for a new Marriot in a downtown setting! We have a group code for this rate: HMGS. Use it to get this rate from now until Aug. 20. After that, the discounted rate will not apply. So, don't wait too long!

The membership has some people to thank for getting this done: The Board members who traveled to check out this site (along with Mike Demana), but especially Mike Stelzer, who did all the initial contacts and coordinated the visits. Thanks guys!

Below is the info on the new ATC sites. I will try (with my limited computer skills!) to put some maps and info in the files section on the yahoo list, as well as getting with our webmaster Terry Cabak to get the website updated with this info. Start making your plans now to attend ATC '04!
