ATC 2003 Success

248 Attend Great Lakes Flagship Con

by Steve Smith

Well, another ATC has come and gone, some great games were played, friendships made and renewed, good times had. The games that our members put on are simply the best, you will not find better terrain, miniatures, scenarios or GMs anywhere. The GMs of Great Lakes are the heart of our conventions, and a major reason for our continued success and growth. I thank each of you for lending your time and talent for others to enjoy.

I also have many others to thank, the Board of Directors for their help and confidence, Brian O'Leary for running the events and tons of other stuff, Joe Cairo with Dealers and finances, Darryl Smith for the programs, Mike Demana for getting them printed and helping out with about everything, and my wife, Leslee, for getting the GM bags together. Also, the many members who helped with unloading tables (thanks Phil!), moving tables and chairs, picking stuff up, and all the odds and ends that people helped out with, you know who you are, thanks.

A summary of ATC '03:

  • 52 events, with some GMs running their games multiple times.
  • 6 tournaments.
  • Every game that was set up had players.
  • 248 attendees.
  • 10 dealers.
  • 16 half-tables of Flea Market sellers.
  • A well attended Membership Meeting.
  • The raffle netted $265.
  • The sale of buttons and tape measures benefitted Ft. Meigs and Civil War Preservation Trust.
  • 70 members renewed, and we gained 26 new members.
  • We covered the cost of the Convention, and made a profit (see Treasurer's report)

Work has already started on ATC '04. We will be fine tuning some things for next year (I promise the Flea Market will be in the Holidome!). We will keep everyone informed about the changes via the yahoo e-mail list, as well as seeking more input from the Membership. I had a great weekend at ATC, I hope you did too.

See you all at Drums!
