Board Bites May 2003 by Great Lakes Chairman of the Board Jack E Shaw Sr. The HMGS Great Lakes convention season is underway. Warband was held March 23 in Cincinnati and had a very good attendance. The games were well done and the food was good, too. I had a good time. I played in a Colonial game and was on the British side. Unfortunately, we lost. Be sure to check a list of all the conventions in The Herald. I'm really looking forward to Drums Along the Maumee 4, May 16-18, in Toledo. The Colbys do a fine job, there's more information on Drums elsewhere in The Herald. Also, don't forget about the Raffle at Advance the Colors in September. Like most wargamers, we all have painted figures, rules and books that we not longer want. Please consider donating them to the Raffle. Someone will be glad to get your unwanted items. Just bring your Raffle items to ATC and we'll take it from there. If you have something to donate, please e-mail me: madjack3@worldnet.att.net, and that way I can keep track of what we will have. Also, this year there will be two Board seats up for election -- the seats that Tom Bryant and Rich Smethurst now hold. Those wishing to be a candidate need to send a short Bio to Herald editor Mike Demana. The deadline for declaring your candidacy will be at the Membership Meeting at Advance the Colors. Mike will need your bios in the following Herald, by Oct. 15. The new Board terms will start Jan. 1, 2004, and will run for three years. Until next time, be safe and good gaming.
