Publishing Schedule Changes

by Mike Demana

Calender watchers will notice that this issue arrived a month later than the first issue of the year normally does. I decided to take advantage of last issue's late delivery and fix something I felt was needed with The Herald's delivery schedule. Up to this point, The Herald would come out at the end of odd-numbered months -- January, March, etc. This meant the deadline was the 15th of those months. However, you may have noticed that all of Great Lakes' conventions fall during those same odd numbered months, and usually AFTER the deadline date. Drums is in May, Warparty in July and Advance the Colors in September.

This meant I had two choices when it came to covering those cons in The Herald. Either I ran no articles on them in that issue, or I made the convention directors throw something together in a hurry to make the deadline, or as close to it as possible. Either way, the bulk of the articles that members would write about our cons didn't show up till the following issue -- more than two months later. This made it less timely and newsworthy.

So, with the Board's approval, I have shifted the publishing schedule of The Herald back one month. This issue is appearing in late February, the next in late April, and so on. It is a minor change, and as I mentioned earlier, with Herald #50 appearing late, it really wasn't a full extra month between issues (more like five-plus weeks).
