I arrived early at the hotel (was lost only once getting there). Why do north/south roads get west/east names? Anyway, there were DRUMS signs outside and a note to pull around back, which I did. The Colby Street Irregulars were there unloading a dealer. The dealers were at the end of the one large room used for the con. The rest of the room held 17 sets of tables for the games. I set my table up and then hit the dealers. Several games were in process - the Colbys started the con earlier on Friday to make better use of the facilities. I hit the dealers quite a bit, picking up a mail order (less postage) from Glass City Games for Battle Honors 28mm early Soviet armor and some 15mm models that were formerly Qualitycast figures, and another skirmish World War II book. I picked up some more buildings from Vatican Enterprises. George Nafziger had a ton of books, but too many for me to afford. I purchased one on U.S. infantry vs. German armor -- should be good for a few scenarios. Small crowd, large number of games, I felt (due to the fact a couple games didn't have enough players, including mine). A wealth of World War II games. Three of the six scheduled games (plus two to three added early ones) were World War II. Having only one player, and a Battlefront WW II game starting up next to my table, the two of us joined the other game. A good game with a U.S. tank battalion and infantry battalion plus M-10 GMC company counter-attacked by a German battle group with 1 Tiger I, two Panthers, five Mark IV/H, two SGIII/G and a company of panzer grenadiers in half-tracks. It was close right up to the end. Well, I could disengage at least. Next morning, the con was pretty full. I think they had more attendees this year. I had five players instead of the eight I could have play, but once again the problem for those attending was a wealth of good games. Five started at 10 am (with 19 more to follow that day). My game went very well, although I could have used a bit more time than the four hours I'd scheduled. I need to make my games smaller. Saturday evening What to play in? I had finished shopping, ran around to shoot some more pictures, played in a Desperado gun fight on the street (won that one), and now joined the Irregulars for their Toledo Wars. Hmm, Michigan side, let's see. I have the lead units. Across the bridge is cavalry, infantry, and a cannon. Where is our cannon? At the end of the column of course. The cavalry is also off on the right flank. Oh well. Across the bridge. How good could they shoot? Lost that one. The answer to my question is very, very well. While I was in this, and before I made it back from dinner, the Leipzig game had started. Lots of figures. Click, Click, Click. Lots of pictures. Midnight. The Con was over. Where is the bar?
