Rochester DBA Open Tournament

Spectators Add Spice
to Annual NY Tourney

by Dennis Frank

For the 3rd year in a row, the Rochester DBA Open Tournament met in David Abraham's garage for a round robin event. The day long affair included a lunch provided by the host and was notable for having almost as many spectators as players. We'll have them all playing again by next year!

A special highlight of the event was the awarding to Walter Kordon of two prizes for his gladiatorial arena. These were awarded at this year's Cold Wars. Walter built, and populated, a wonderful arena for Arena Games. It was the creation of three of the participants in this tournament (Scott, Mike and Jim). If any of you make it back east for Historicon, check it out. A great game, and a fabulous showpiece!

The tourney was a close fought affair, as the results show, with Zip Connelly returning to form with his Classical Indians. The results were:

    1. Zip Connelly (6-1) Classical Indian
    2. Greg Ellsworth (5-2) Marian Roman
    3. Mike Vasile (5-2) New Kingdom Egyptian
    4. Dennis Frank (5-2) Nubian
    5. Dave Abraham (3-4) Viking
    6. Drew Guest (2-5) Later Carthaginian
    7. Jim Welch (1-6) Ancient British
    8. Scott Clark (1-6) Early Imp. Roman
