The 2nd Annual Warparty convention, held by the Smethurst's Basement Club (and a bunch of volunteers), went on as planned Saturday, July 20. There were a great variety of games -- literally something for everyone. From ancient Greek naval warfare, Napoleonics, World War II in 15mm and 20mm, American Civil War, adventures searching for lost civilizations all the way to space fighter combat featuring Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. Attendance was almost 100 people. We added eight NEW HMGS Great Lakes members and another 11 rejoined. There were 21 different items to win in the raffle, or you could have participated in the swap or sell that was held. Food and beverages were also available, for a small fee. A wonderful time was had by everyone! A profit was made and Warparty seems to be growing by leaps and bounds each year. Pictures of all the events can be seen at the Smethurst Basement clubpage on Yahoo. You don't need to be a member to see them, at: http: //photos. groups. yahoo. com/group/SBclubpage/1st Thanks to everyone who helped out (especially the game masters and volunteers). This is certainly my favorite local convention, and I'm looking forward to next year!
