Well, Drums Along the Maumee III was another great opportunity to game and shop. We had six top-notch dealers to tempt us and about 30 games run. The Stooge Council is already hard at work planning some improvements for Drums IV. The Holiday Inn West is a really nice place and easy to find for the out-of-towners. They even had a hot dog cart making rounds so you could play without having to leave for lunch. That was also a very good deal for the Holiday Inn! Our Special Event for Sunday was a tour of the Wolcott House Museum Complex. Chuck Jacobs, Executive Director of the Maumee Valley Historical Society and curator of the Museum Complex, led our group and was impressed with the collective knowledge of our members. Many thanks to Chuck and his staff for helping us with this special tour. Next year, we hope to expand the gaming to Sunday by using the facilities at the new Visitors Center at Fort Meigs. Dr. Larry Nelson has offered the use of the new building to our group for a Sunday morning session of games. There will be no cost to our group for the use of the new site. The Center isn't open yet, but I did get a quick tour when I stopped in to see Dr. Nelson. Can you imagine gaming on BRAND NEW tables? I checked out the two classrooms. They can be opened into one large room, perfect for our needs. Maybe six to eight games can be run. We will be working with Dr. Nelson throughout the year to run demo-games and set up display tables to inform the public about historical miniatures gaming. That's all to report for now from the Northern Frontier! Back to The Herald 48 Table of Contents Back to The Herald List of Issues Back to MagWeb Master Magazine List © Copyright 2002 by HMGS-GL.
