by Great Lakes Chairman of the Board Jack E. Shaw, Sr.
By the time everyone reads this, not only are Drums and Origins history, but Warparty probably is, too. I know I had a great time at Drums and Origins, and I'm sure Warparty, too. Those of you who were able to go enjoyed a GREAT time and many fine games. A special thanks to Smethurst's basement for their fine job they do on Warparty, with the food, raffle and all. Drums 3 Special Membership Meeting Now, I must clear up a matter that occurred at Drums. I had asked for a Special Membership Meeting for the purpose of changing Article 1, Section 1 of the by-laws concerning the principal office of the Corporation. At that time, the principal office was that of a previous board member. The by-laws will read now, following the voting of the membership in attendance at the meeting, that the principal office of the corporation shall be that of a duly elected Board Member residing within the State of Ohio and that Board Member will also be the Corporate Agent. Following the voting on the by-laws, a motion was made on the Visitor Passes we have at Advane the Colors (the pass does not allow a visitor to play or shop). The motion was seconded and a vote taken to let visitors shop. After Drums, I realized that the vote on the visitor pass was illegal, and here's the reason. The By-laws state "Article IV, Sectionl, d. Notices of Special Meetings shall state the purpose or purposes for which the meeting is called. During any Special Meeting only the business stated in the Notice of Meeting may be transacted thereat." Since it was stated in The Herald that the purpose of the meeting was for the purpose of the by-laws change, that was the ONLY item that a vote could have been called for. I'm sorry for any inconvenience or problems that vote might have caused. As Chairman, I try to follow the by-laws as best I can and sometimes mistakes are made. For those members who are concerned about visitors not being able to shop at ATC, it's my understanding that during the past two ATCs (2000 and 2001), we only had 6 visitor passes. And of those, 3 visitors were Board Members' wives and a son. This issue will be discussed after ATC, by the Board. But as of now, the prices and restrictions for Visitor Passes remains the same as it was. ATC Raffle Also, over past weeks I've either e-mailed or sent letters to the gaming clubs listed in The Herald concerning the Raffle I'll be doing at ATC. I would like the gaming clubs to get together and have their members donate some unused painted figures in our raffle -- a three or four stand unit or group of vehicles in 15mm, or five or six figures in 25mm, would be great. Someone would enjoy getting them and you'll get rid of unused figures and help the Great Lakes Chapter out. Just drop me an e-mail at madjack3@prodigy.net and let me know what you have and when you'll be getting to ATC to drop off the figures. If you need to get them to me by some other way, drop me an e-mail and let me know. I'm hoping to run two raffles -one Saturday and one Sunday. I hope to hear from you.
