Newline Designs
28mm Ancients

From the Armorer's Forge

Reviewed by John Adkins

Here is a quick review of the first thee personality figs in Newline designs 28 mm range. In general the three figures are all very cleanly cast and nicely sculpted.

P-1 Alexander of Macedon

A nice Alexander figure. Alexander wears scaled armor cuirass and a lion helm that should look excellent when painted. The figure is mounted and a spear is provided to fit into his open hand. His horse appears to be slightly rearing and has a nicely sculpted leopard skin draped over it.

P-2 Maximus

Like Russell Crowe turned to pewter and walked onto your gaming table. Maximus, also mounted, wears a muscled cuirass, greaves, and a bearskin cloak. He holds his gladius aloft. His horse shows less spirit than Alexander's and has simple horse furniture. The best part about this figure is that you also get Maximus' war dog as well. I cannot wait to see how this looks based up as a command element.

P-3 Boadecia

A nice, if bloodthirsty, image of the warrior Queen. Boadecia stands with the head of a presumably Roman captive in her left hand and her right holds a spear (provided). She is nude to the waist and has a full skirt from there down. Amply suited for the focal point of a Celtic camp or as a command figure.
