Well, it is finally Spring up here in the area of "lake effect" weather. The only thing more random than our daily forecast is my ability to roll high numbers when I need low numbers. Let me give you an example: Day 1 - Sunny and 70; Day 2 - Rain and 40. Repeat sequence. And so it goes, in this corner of Lake Erie. The month of May was of course our convention, Drums Along the Maumee. This year, we were in our new location, the Holiday Inn West in Toledo. This will be the site of Drums IV and Drums V, and hopefully many more in the future. Every year we grow a little bit as the word gets passed around. It is really nice to read e-mails and articles that mention Drums. We must be doing something right! On a related topic, I received an e-mail from Dr. Larry Nelson, curator at Ft. Meigs, in which he offered his new Visitor Center to us for gaming demos and educational displays. This facility is part of the $8.2 million reconstruction project that has rebuilt the entire stockade and improved several of the blockhouses. Next issue, I promise a closer look at this renovation with interviews and more photos. I think a tour of the new fort should be the special Sunday Event for Drums IV!
