Colby Street Updatee "Since ATC has come and gone, many things have happened around here: 1) An agreement has been created between the Maumee Historical Society and the Colby Street Irregulars to provide a diorama of the Fallen Timbers Battle for the new expanded exhibit area taking place now at the Wolcott House Museum. Steve and Doug Johnson will create the display that will begin in April at their River Road Headquarters. The exhibit will run for several months and be a source to pick up information about the HMGS Great Lakes, historical miniature gaining in general and a place to advertise Drums along the Maumee 3, Advance the Colors and Warpariy. 2) Our new site for Drums 3 is looking good for this coming May 17-18. More room, better access, larger games and more hotels and eateries in the area close to the Maumee Turnpike exit in Maumee, OH. The location this year is Holiday Inn Toledo West, 2340 S. Reynolds Rd. Come join us -- we are getting bigger and better each year. This was the original site we wanted three years ago, but it took this long to line up the correct weekend. 3) Our new Drums Convention Page will be up and running, after we found that it was switched to another address. Ed Lizak is doing the duty to re-vamp the site. Stay tuned for more info as the year progresses. 4) Six Colbys made it down to the ATC 2001 in Springfield and we had our usual great time. Tim ran his Pirate Game, the Johnson Brothers ran their African Encounter Game and Jim ran a 11285 Microarmor Battle between Russian and German Forces. 5) A working breakfast was done between the Board and the Colbys to plan out the Drums 3 convention and to renew old friendships. 6) Jim and Yoda traveled to Pro or Con to run a 25mm World War II infantry battle on the approach to Holland. The British Paras were mowed down by MG 34s and 42s and one tracked Sd 222 Armored Car -- very bloody mates! 7) We helped Glass City Games at Pro or Con by hauling some trade goods and promoting Drums 3 in the process. 8) Plans are solid now for events to be run at this coining WinterCon in Detroit and at SpartaCon in Lansing, M1, in January. We will be at both shows. 9) Monthly Drums Planning Sessions are being conducted by the Stooge High Council. 10) What are we working on? Same old stuff -- just getting a little done at a time. Doug has plans for a Battlebots Game to go along with his Godzilla Game and his flying BBQ Skirmish Game. The re-worked French Foreign Legion Game is about down - need more grappling hooks! Boxers, American Revolution, expanded Pirates Games and the Jacobites: Part 2 are on the table, as well as the Spanish American War and new 28mm Colonial Forcesfrom the 19th Century! Too much! 11) Tim's Hernia is healing well, Tom T got his lenses rebuffed to be able to see the figures, Steve has a wedding planned, Dennis has begun to show tip as a semi-irregular, Yoda has a little one on the way and the Colonel is making the convention Circuit to hype the local convention! 12) The French Warship, "Weasel," was seen steaming away ftom Panape in late September -- more later. -- Colonel Colby"
