Changes to HMGS-GL Board

Terms

by Jack E. Shaw, Sr.

The Board of Directors will propose the following change to the by-laws of the Great Lakes chapter of HMGS at the membership meeting at Advance the Colors, 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16. The by-laws states that there can be as many as seven members on the Board of Directors. The Board would like to increase the number to seven and change the Terms of the Directors to the following: Three Board Members would have three year terms, Two Board Members would have two year terms and two Board Members would have one year terms for the first election. Thereafter, all Board Members would have three year terms.

This would insure that there would never be an all new Board of Directors. There would always be experienced Board Members to help the new ones. If any Board member would resign or be removed from office, then a vote of the Board would take place to appoint another Board Member to finish that term. The length of term for each Board Member would be determined by the number of votes. In case of a tie, the Board would vote among themselves to decide the length of the terms for the tied Board Members.
