Board Bites

PayPal

by Jack E. Shaw, Sr.

Here it is May and Drums 2 is upon us. I look forward to seeing Great Lakes members at Drums. It sounds like it will be even better than last year, and I've been looking forward to this one since last year! While you're enjoying Drums, take time to thank Jim Thomasson and The Colby Street Irregulars, especially Tim Weber, for all the hard work these guys have done for us. These guys are a class act and without them our hobby would be greatly diminished.

Also, the Board of Directors is considering using PayPal.com to enable members to pay for their membership and also to allow dealers to pay for their tables at our conventions. There is a cost when using PayPal, as outlined below:

"For each deposit under $15, the fee is $0.30, for every deposit over $15 the fee is 2.2% of the deposit plus the thirty cents (i.e., on a $100.00 deposit we would get $ 97.50 with $ 2.50 ($2.20 + .301 going to PayPal).

What the Board would like to know is: Would you use PayPal to pay your dues? If you're a dealer, would you use PayPal to secure your convention tables? Please contact one of the Board Members with your answer/opinion. Our e-mail addresses are listed in The Herald. You can also let us know by posting your opinion on the e-group. We want to make it more convenient for you, the member, if that's what you prefer. But we need to know if enough people will use it to warrant the expense.
