Newsletters

by Brian O'Leary

Last summer, while I was thinking about giving up on Great Lakes. I received a copy of the HMGS Mid-South newsletter. Typically, I skip over the majority of such publications, but for some reason, I read this one all the way through. I had more fun reading that newsletter, than I had in the last two years of gaming. These people were really enjoying gaming. and it seemed to me that this is what Great Lakes should be doing. In order to do that, we (Great Lakes) needed to communicate better, so I volunteered to put together the newsletter...

Well, eight months and four newsletters later, here we are. Several of us have spent a good amount of time in the last few months doing things to promote Great Lakes, and to help Great Lakes fulfill it's obligation to its members. To be honest, it doesn't seem like much has been accomplished, but this time last year we were just a bunch of gamers all waiting for someone else to do something. This year we have a solid BOD, fairly large membership, a newsletter, and the beginnings of what could be a class "A" convention in Rally '95. I'm not particularly happy about the renewal fee, but we do have a debt from Rally '93 to pay off.

Incidentally, Rally '95 will cost notably less than Rally '93, which should put us in great shape come October. I hope that each of you can find the patience (or whatever it takes) to stay with us: because, Great Lakes appears to be on the verge of really putting everything together. In any event, I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has any thoughts (good or bad) about the organization; please take the time to write or call.

The Herald and I have changed our address during the past month, so here is the new address: The Herald/Brian O'Leary 184 N. Union St. Delaware, Ohio 43015 Phone: 614-363-9541

I look forward to hearing from you and to seeing many of you at the meeting on March 27th.
