Yes, the reenactment season is upon us, and it is swinging into high gear. As I have mentioned in these pages before, I often enjoy watching reenactments as an extension of my interest in military history. I hope that others will find the following list of activities useful. This was compiled from entries found in the Smoke & Fire News, The Civil War News and from various sources on the internet.

3rd Annual Spencerville's Founders Day Civil War Weekend

Civil War Reenactment

Soldiers of the Revolution
Aug. 19-20 Ft. Niagra, NY American and British forces of the Revolutionary War engage in mock battle demonstrations. More than 100 reenactors demonstrate uniforms, weapons and tactics in a period encampment. Siege 1759
Aug. 19-20 Ft. Meigs, OH British, French and Native forces of the French & Indian War contest control of the Ohio country in a two-day, ongoing battle. Extended hours.

16th Michigan Infantry Civil War Reenactors
Sept. 9-10 Ft, Mackinac, Mackinac Island, MI

1st Grand Review and Encampment since the Civil War

Mesopotamia Civil War Encampment

4th Battle of White Lick Creek

Michigan Colonial Harvest Weekend & King's 8th Regiment Encampment
Sept. 16-17 Colonial Michilimackinac, Mackinaw City, MI Join British, French and Native American colonial traders, soldiers, women and children as they prepare the fur-trading village for winter. King's 8th reenactors join the fort troops.

Fort Meigs, 1813
Sept. 17-18 Ft. Meigs, OH United States and British soldiers recreate the contest for the Old Northwest in 1813. Recreations of historic battles at Fort Meigs take place Saturday and Sunday. Extended hours.

War of 1812 British Garrison Weekend
Sept. 23-24 Ft. Niagra, NY Hearkening back to the dark days of 1813-14 when the Niagara region was devastated by war, more than 100 British reenactors take over Old Fort Niagara. Visitors see what garrison life was like in an occupied border fort. Daily activities include fatigue duties, mounting of the guard, payroll, inspections and programs on the uniforms and clothing of the period. Operation Market Garden
