Close to 140 of the "Old Guard" were in attendence at the Holiday Inn in South Bend, IN, for the 17th annual Seven Years War Convention. The focus of the event is the European Wars that occurred during the time of the American French and Indian Wars. If you have any interest in this specialized era, this was the place to be March 31 - April 1. Almost 30 miniatures engagements were fought well into both nights. Besides the huge array of Seven Years War battles, there was a taste of the French and Indian Wars, the Jacobite Revolt, the American R evolution, Barbary Pirates and an Age of Sail battle. Lots of variety even in this very tight time period. Nearly a dozen dealers were on hand to add troops, terrain, paint, films, books, t-shirts and lots of period trivia for the skillful buyer. The highlight of the convention was the sit-down dinner, followed by the lecture from Dr. Christopher Duffy from England on the Battle of Rossbach. More than 90 gamers sat and conversed as they ate an excellent meal. Congradulations go out to Paul Petri and his Staff as the presenters of this year's Seven Years War Convention.
