The Preliminary Events Listing for Origins 2000 is out and reveals an incredible number of historical miniatures events. Nearly 100 are listed so far, with more coming in all the time. A good chunk of the historicals are being run by HMGS members from various chapters, including Great Lakes, as part of the HMGS Origins Team 2000 (or HOT2K).
World War II events are the most numerous, so far, proving the popularity of this period continues to rise. Next in number are Horse & Musket era games -- Napoleonics providing the bulk of these. There are also a surprising number of naval miniatures scheduled for Origins. These range from Pirate ships to Age of Sail to Ironclads to Dreadnaught, all the way up to World War II battleships.
The HOT2k project at Origins is run by Pete Panzeri for the fourth consecutive year. Pete secured a deal for HMGS game masters that grants them free entry into the con when they run two events (six player, four hour minimum) and work two hours at the HMGS Information desk.
