I just wanted to give you a quick update on the status of Advance the Colors 2000. Although we had a verbal agreement with the Holiday Inn as to the dates for our convention in September, 2000, we encountered a problem when we tried to get the hotel to send us the contract. Much to our chagrin, the Holiday Inn wanted to substantially raise the price for our 2000 event. In fact, the site rental cost would have been double what we paid in 1999. The Board of Directors quickly decided that we simply could not afford such an increase, as we would certainly lose money on our event. Accordingly, we told the hotel "no thanks." That means that we currently do not have a site for ATC 2000. The outgoing Board has not located a new site for ATC 2000. Planning for our chapter's Spring 2000 events, Warparty! and Drums Along the Maumee, has been our priority of late. It will largely be up to the new Board to decide whether to pursue the location of a convention site for ATC 2000. The bottom line is, ATC 2000 is very much up in the air right now.
