Oval Office

Worthwhile

by Matt Davidson, HMGS Great Lakes President

Well, there's not much to report this time. Elections are upon us. I would like to express my thanks to all of you who have chosen to run. It's a payless and often thankless job at times, but the end result is worthwhile. Promoting our hobby and organizing ourselves at conventions like Advance the Colors and soon-to-be Warparty and Drums Along the Maumee. Let's continue to build the Great Lakes Chapter. Did you know HMGS Great Lakes is the official chapter of the new millennium? Well, maybe not, but it sounds good anyway.

Warparty, in Cincinnati, will be upon us soon, as well. I believe we still need some events. If you are so inclined, I urge you to run something by contacting Ray Garbee. I will be running my BIG (25mm) Cowpens event there. I have been working on it again since attempting to finish it for ATC '98. There is a movie due out in June, 2000, called "Patriot." It stars Mel Gibson, and covers the battle of Cowpens as well as some other American Revolution events in the Carolinas. Should tie in nicely with my event.

I'm still deciding what rules to use. So far, I have narrowed it down to "The British are Coming," "Patriots and Loyalists," or "Guns of Liberty." There are things I like about all three. I will post the Order of Battle for Cowpens on my web site eventually. It is detailed.

Have a wonderful New Year!
