While attending Advance the Colors'99, I was asked by our event coordinator, Brian O'Leary, to review a 54mm figure, which was donated as an event prize by Craig Marielle of The Gauntlet Publications. I was unfortunately not able to find out the name of the manufacturer, but I was told that the figure line is imported from Russia. The figure isan Eagle Bearer in Napoleon's 3rd Guard Grenadier Regiment, and is listed as item number OF-670 on the listing provided by The Gauntlet. This is a very nicely done, heavy pewter figure, which although unpainted, would still make a very handsome display piece. All flash and mold lines had been removed from the figure, which would make painting much easier if one chose to do so. All detail is crisp and exceptionally well defined. All clothing seams, buttons, cuff s and lapels are nicely rendered, and details include the sword knot, epaulets and gorget. The figure's face is well sculpted and the body well proportioned. The grenadier's bearskin is likewise nicely done, with detailed cords, tassels, plume, and grenade patch. The figure is standing and holding the eagle of the 3rd Guard Grenadier Regiment, and the flag is exquisite. All embroidered letters and wreathes appear to be accurately modeled, and the lettering on the flag is easily readable. The nails holding the flag to the stave are recreated, and a very nice eagle tops the standard. All in all, this is a very nice figure, which I understand was given away to a lucky gamer in Bob Sternberg's gorgeous 25mm Napoleonics game. Whoever the recipient was, congratulations on winning this fine display piece!
