Herald Raffle 'Smashing Success'

High Quality Items Spur Sales

by Scott Savory

The 4th Annual Herald "Memorial" Raffle was held at Advance the Colors'99, and was a smashing success. This year's event was notable for the very high quality of donated items, which was undoubtedly the reason that over 500 raffle tickets were sold.

  • Painted miniatures given away as prizes were donated by Ray Garbee and Matt Davidson (ACW ships), Darryl Smith (25mm Western Gunfighters), Dayton Painting Consortium (25mm SYW Austrians), and yours truly (6mm ACW figs, and 1/2400 modern warships).
  • Several very nice books were donated by Bob French (Grandiosity), Ray Garbee, Matt Davidson, and Darryl Smith.
  • Assorted rules sets were donated by Gordon Andrews (The Colour Sergeant), Andy York, Phil Fry, Jack Shaw, Old Battlefields Press, Mark Milcetich, and Glenn Davis.
  • Unpainted figures were donated by Brian O'Leary (Gaming Models), The Quartermaster, Tom Dye, and Grandiosity.
  • Other items were donated by Outland Games and Craig Martelle (The Gauntlet). To all of the folks who generously donated the prizes for this year's event, I would like to extend a personal thank you. Also, thanks to Henry Lubbers, Mark Dayton, and Ray Garbee for helping run the raffle behind the desk. And special thanks to Evan Moloney for purchasing the most raffle tickets!

In all, 33 lots were raffled off during the day on Saturday. Congratulations to those lucky attendees who won!
