Ft. Erie, Ontario, Aug. 6-8 Every year, the War of 1812 is relived on the second weekend in August. It happens where the bloody siege of Ft. Erie took place, Aug. 15, 1814. For its 13th year, this battle reenactment will attract more than 400 participants to relive the event over a two day period, Pyrotechnics, day and night battle scenes and live demonstrations have all enhanced this event. The setting begins with the capture and occupation of the forl by the invading American troops. The battle sorties are highlighted by a vigorous display of actual musket and cannon fire from both sides, culminating with the destructive explosion that originally destroyed about 25% of the Fort. The special effects to simulate this disastrous battle for the British Forces and the Fort is one that all spectators will never forget. Ft. Meigs State Memorial, Perrysburg, OH. Aug. 21-22 Siege 1759 - British, French, and Native forces of the French & Indian War contest control of the Ohio country in a two-day, ongoing battle. Extended hours Saturday and Sunday, 9:30 am - 5 pm. Evening battle at 7:30 pm, followed by Lantern Tours Saturday.
