Here is a list of some of the gaming groups in the Great Lakes area. If you would like your club listed, send the particulars (days you meet, types of gaming, your group name and contact point) to The Herald.

Central Ohio Gamers Association (COGA) Meet 10am - 9 pm on the 2nd Saturday of each month at Whitehall Community Park. They host a variety of historical miniatures and boardgames. Colby Street Irregulars This group has been meeting for more than 16 years on Wednesdays, 7-11 pm, in the Toledo area. They game all periods -their latest specialty being a homegrown set of "universal" rules. They are doing demos at Mind Games on Sundays, showing off their new adaptions to these rules -- WWII 25mm Infantry fighting and a 25mm Gunfighter Game. We missed going to MichiCon (like everyone else). Lake Colby is operating in Jim's backyard --family swim for the end of July. We are trying to make an Ironclad Game for the Pool (Nerf Balls, don't want to "hole" any of the Colby's). We have been playing Terran Wars -- Space Infantry and our new WWII Infantry Game with the figures from Battle Honors (working up the vehicle stats as I write this). We ran our Code of the West Gunfighters and had about 12 kills -- all on single shots -- very weird, but fun. Locally, we heard that The History Channel was filming in our area for the Battle of Fallen Timbers, and several of us, with our families, watched the Fireworks on the 4th at Ft. Confederation of Friends This Indiana club specializes in 20mm Napoleonics. The 10 members have armies to represent all combatants of the 1809 time period. Duke Robinson, PO Box 47, Owensville, IN 47665. (812) 729-7651.

Greater Dayton Wargamers Club (GDWC) These guys game a variety of periods. They mee regularly at the Kettering Soldiery location on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Tom Miller, 516 Elderwood Rd., Kettering, OH 45429. (937)-299-5754, or e-mail: mtm@erinet.com.

Historical Gamers of Indianapolis (or 19 Plus 1) Meets every tuesday for historical games. The address is 2060 E. 54th Street, Village Commons, Suite 4, Indianapolis, IN 46220. New guests are welcome ($3 game fee). They play different historical games each week. Dennis McKinney, (317) 726-1384.

Kampfgruppe This central Indiana group plays all historical periods and scales, including: Napoleonics (6mm, 15mm), SYW (6mm, 15mm), WWII (1/285,15mm, 20mm), ACW(6mm, 10mm, 15mm), Franco-Prussian War (15mm), and multiple Naval periods, such as Age of Sail, ACW, SpanishAmerican War, Russo-Japanese War, and both World Wars. The Minatures and Gaming Association at The Ohio State University This group has been meeting for years, playing a mix of historical and fantasy, on the campus of OSU. They meet every Saturday (except "breaks" and summers) in the basement meeting rooms in the Ohio Union from noon till 11 pm. There is no charge and multiple games are played. All guests are welcome. OSU Gamers Update "The OSU group will be on summer break until our first meeting on Sept 25th. I would like to canvas for volunteers to run demo historical games in fall quarter I really would like to get the OSU group doing more historicals. The problem usually is that the college students just beginning in the hobby have very little in the way of miniatures and experience." --Guy Flora, OSU Gamers.

North Coast Update: "With summer vacations, North Coast Wargamers have not played any games this summer as a club. Wehave assembled a nearly complete 15mm ACW Army of Northern Virginia, 1863, for Gettysburg (Johnny Reb III regimental basing) through internet acquisitions. We have four corps of Union so far, with supply, artillery, officers, cavalry support, etc. The Mingus family is taking a July historical vacation, including stops at Chancellorsville, Spotsylvania, Wilderness, Fredericksburg, the Richmond area battlefields, and Colonial Williamsburg, as well as roller coastering at Busch Gardens. Our planned next games are Baton Rouge (15mm ACW and Arrowfield Church (15mm ACW at a local library in Perry, Ohio. We've added some neat specialty terrain pieces from Miniature World Makerin Australia to augment our 4" GHQ Terrain Maker hex system. Check out their web site for cool terrain for all periods. NOWS Update: "Some of the members have been playing a Gettysburg campaign game for the last year The campaign portion has been based on the Avalon Hill game, "Roads to Gettysburg. " Each of 12 corps commanders (including cay) have been moving their own command after consulting with their army commander. Since we have a gamemaster (me), we have been able to do true, limited intelligence. The movement has resulted in a battle outside Ellicott Mills, MD, beginning around July 7, 1863. We will now transfer this game to a miniatures setting using "Fields of Honor" rules at the brigade scale. We will probable have this game at some Cleveland location after NOWSCON and Advance the Colors are over -- probably in October. Jim Schwendeman, NOWS,

Rochester Historical Simulations Group This group meets at 11:30 on the 3rd Sunday of the month at Millennium Books and Games in Rochester. Rochester Update: "The Rochester group takes July off for Historicon, but will pick up in August with a Mexican-American War scenario. The DBA tournament proceeds apace (in other words we have a whole mess of games to get in over the next couple of months.) SEMAG Update "Well, this month is a Battleground ININ // game that takes place in the bocage region of Normandy. That's on July 17th. In June, we played Fire and Fury, introducing it to several new gamers -- most of which were under 16 years old We stole them right off the Warhammer 40K table -- gotta love the flags! As a matter of fact, we played two games, and one guy and his kid (who was only seven), ended up buying a couple bags of ACW 15s. SEMAG is leading the way in recruitment! James and I are trying to run a monthly Fire and Fury to keep the crowd happy." --Steve Hazuka, SEMAG.
