Hello, and welcome to the third issue of the Herald. Now that the holidays are past, we can focus on a new year of gaming. We are already off to a good start, and it looks to be a busy year for Great Lakes: read on. The Great Lakes BOD met on January 16th to discuss activities for the new year. There is a lot of good news for Great Lakes members. First of all, there will be a membership meeting at the Whetstone Public Library on January 30th at 7:30 P.M. The library is located at 3909 North High St. The most important topic, Rally 'Round the Flag'95. will be held at the OSU Student Union in Columbus on Oct 6th, 7th, and 8th. The convention committee still needs to be firmed up, positions include convention coordinator, game director, public relations director, dealer coordinator. and security. Interested members should come to the meeting or contact Ferkin Doyle prior to the meeting, if possible. HMGS Gamedays will be held on the first Sunday of each month this .year at the Soldiery. The tables will be available for HMGS activities; please contact the Soldiery to schedule your events. Non-HMGS members must pay a $1.00 fee to play in these events. Due to a temporary problem with the Great Lakes P.O. box, please send any Great Lakes correspondence to our secretary, Ferkin Doyle, at 28 Carriage Lane, Delaware, Ohio 43015. Three changes were made to the Board of Directors. First, our president, Darryl Smith, was appointed to the BOD to fill the open slot. Two other slots vacated by Matt Piatek who had to resign and Ken Marrow who we have lost contact with were filled by Rich Stakes and myself. It is time to renew membership. The renewal fee is $10.00 plus a one time assessment of $5.00 for a total of $15.00 for the '94/'95 membership. The membership runs from September 1st to August 30th, which means that almost all of us are five months late. Please make your checks and money orders payable to HMGS/Great Lakes and send your renewal to Ferkin at the address above. With this issue of the newsletter you will find an HMGS/Greg Lakes membership list that will act as an interim directory until an updated one can be mailed later this year (maybe with the next newsletter). Question marks following the name denote that we have an out of date address You will also, find an information update sheet with this newsletter. Please fill it out as much information as possible and return it with you renewal. The information will be used to help us plan conventions and member services. Lastly, please send stuff to me for the newsletter; if you don't. I'll start writing exciting articles about watching paint dry on my figures.
