Lectures and Demos Ft. Niagara

Here is a listing of events that will be held at Ft. Niagara in 1999:

March 27, 2 pm: Cabin Fever Series, "Military Engineering at Ft. Niagara"

April 24, 2 pm: Cabin Fever Series, "Ft. Stanwix during the American Revolution"

May 1-2: Civil War Artillery School -- Union soldiers garrison the fort and perfect their artillery skills.

May 29-30: "Muskets to Missiles." See Niagara's soldiers from the 1700s through the modern era, take tours of the historic cemetery and "New" Ft. Niagara.

June 12-13: "The King's Birthday." British, Loyalist, and German troops celebrate the birthday of King George III.

July 2-4: "French & Indian War Encampment." British, French and Indian warriors re-enact the 1759 siege of Ft. Niagara. One of the largest French & Indian Events in North America.

July 17-18: "Cavalry of the War of 1812." Demonstrations of period cavalry tactics and equipment.

July 31 -Aug. 1: "18th Century Fair." Period vendors, music, games and demonstrations.

Aug. 14-15: "Soldiers of the Revolution." The forces of both sides demonstrate 18th Century military life.

Sept. 25-26: "War of 1812 British Garrison." British forces of the War of 1812 live and work in the fort.

Oct. 9-10: "The Fur Trade Frontier." Ft. Niagara becomes a wilderness trading post once again, as trappers, traders and visitors join together to depict the site's early history.

October: "Historic Hauntings Evening Fund-Raiser." The fortress is haunted by spirits from its past.
