Advance the Colors'98 has come and gone. I can safely say that ATC'98 was a smash success with all the attendees and dealers. Held at the Holiday Inn South, Moraine, OH, ATC'98 provided more than 50 historical events covering about every period the hobby games. There were many new faces at this years show. Attendance for the convention was 184, including vendors -- a record in its three-year history. Despite the rise in site costs from ATC'97, the attendance increase was sufficient to cover the expenses of the convention -- barely (more on that from your Treasurer). Given those increased costs (and our commitment to hold the line on admission charge), I'm pleased with ATC's performance. ATC'98 had excellent turnout from our volunteer staff this year. Brian O'Leary deserves special mention for all his work on the preliminary event program and handling the preregistration process. Brian weathered every crisis during the convention and kept me sane. I especially want to thank Craig Charron, Darryl Smith, Scott Savory, Bob Knecht (here all the way from Spainl), John Martin, Andrew York and Bill Weber for the outstanding job they did staffing the front desk. We could not have done it without youl Matt Davidson did a stand-up job with the raff le. Ferkin Doyle kept the dealers happy and handled the dealer area set up. The same holds true for the gamemasters. I want to thank all our GM's for their time and effort in providing the quality historical miniature games that are our hobby. People tell me my stuff is good, but I always leave the convention with "terrain envy." I'm awed by the work folks put into their events. Truly, you all "encourage the others."
