Review by Craig Charron, MGM
This range of figures was released last fall, I believe, to coincide with the spectacular Alamo games staged by HMGS luminary Pete Panzeri. A friend of mine bought me a 25mm "Texans - Advancing" bag. He thought I could use them for War of 1812 American militia in civilian clothes. Well, I can and probably will. The pack itself contained 31 figures in the style of animation Old Glory has become known for. The figures carry a variety of campaign equipage, such as blanket rolls, haversacks, powder horns, knives, etc. They are carrying both rifles and smoothbore muskets. Proportions are the Old Glory norm -- 28 mm tall, and medium heft. As for the "look," the sculptor seemed to have raided some of the late Dave Alsop 25mm ACW Confederate heads. The heads were then placed on these figures. While much of the floppy hat head gear seems compatible with the time and subject, the manner in which the figures were assembled leaves much to be desired. I found that there were heads placed off-center on some bodies and there were large gaps where the neck and shoulders met. Overall I would rate these particular figures as a solid "B-."
