Advance the Colors '98 was a success. The preliminary figures indicate we surpassed last year's attendance -- up from 143 to 184. Fantastic! The income from the raffle nearly doubled, from $100 to $192. We had plenty of events, and despite a few cancellations due to player shortages, things ran smoothly. I would like to thank all of the GMs that provided events, whether or' not they actually ran. It is a testament to the high caliber of the Great Lakes membership that so many events of high quality were offered. If your event did not get enough players, I would urge you to try again next year. That sort of thing eventually happens to us all. One of my events didn't run last year for the same reason. We also had a very nice selection of dealers this year. Thanks go out to all the dealers who attended. We may not have as many dealers as East at Historicon / Cold Wars, but we definitely have the same high quality. Since I ran the raffle, I would like to personally thank all of the members and dealers who contributed items. The variety and quality of items were just great. Also thanks goes to all those who bought tickets. Whether you bought 1 or 48 (see, Evan, I did mention you), the proceeds go towards this great newsletter you are now reading. So, if you didn't win a raffle item, you still win with the continued support of The Herald. Lastly, I would like to thank the excellent team of people who all helped put this convention together. I would like to recognize the fantastic efforts of Ray Garbee (Convention Director), Brian O'Leary (Event Coordinator), and all those who volunteered at the desk . Great Job guys! Our membership is up to 233 at present and continually growing. I enjoyed the exchange of ideas at the membership meeting and as always, if you have a suggestion, comment, idea, request for flyers or membership forms -- or whatever -- please contact us. We need your input to continue to serve you, the Historical Miniature Garner, and promote the hobby.
