Battle of Krakov

A Scenario for Origins '98

by Chris Von Fahnestock

The Battle of Krakov: A 1944 "Destruction of Army Group Center" Scenario

A Hypothetical Battle of WWII

Situation:

The 8th Guards Army and elements of the 5th Combined Arms Army form the 1 st Operational Maneuver Group. This OMG has crashed through the German lines and now threatens to encircle what remains of Army Group Center. The Germans are desperately trying to withdraw all they can. In the city of Krakov, the Germans have a large logistics and reserves base. They must withdraw under pressure will they pull it off?

Players command battalions in this city fight battle. A stand of infantry is a squad and one vehicle is one vehicle. On the German left flank is what remains of an Infantry Corps, on the right is the remnants of a Fallschirmjager Korps (with remnants of an Italian Division too). The Soviets have already encircled these two forces. If the Germans can break out, they may join the main battle in Krakov itself.

Join in this all day event! At least witness a 15mm game with over 300 vehicles, perhaps even 200 tanks! The rules are quick and simple, yet capture the action! I also encourage players to bring thier own figures, if they like, and I will make every effort to accommodate them!

Game Time: 8 hours (+) with a break for lunch Prefer to start around noon

Game Master: Chris von Fahnestock
