Younger Gamers Needed

Recruit

by Craig Lechner

Have you noticed at historical gaming conventions that there are fewer and fewer younger gamers? This can be explained in many ways; there are fewer local cons, the neighborhood hobby stores do not carry sufficient gaming supplies and miniatures, etc. Many younger gamers are exposed to fantasy miniatures and haven't been introduced to historical miniature gaming. From experience I know that once they've had a chance to play, they enjoy it. This gives us a great opportunity to instill in them a love of history that they may already have and not be aware of. We as historical gamers, have a responsibility of sharing our knowledge with these young gamers.

At home and at conventions I run historical games that both new and experienced gamers can enjoy. If we all did this, we could increase the number of younger gamers.
