The HMGS-Great Lakes annual membership meeting will be held at 9:00 AM October 5, 1997 at Avance the Colors. Members can address the BoD about issues concerning Great Lakes.

Advance the Colors `97 has been moved to a new location and date. The new location is the Holiday Inn and Suites Dayton South, 455 Dryden Road, Morraine, OH and the date is October 3rd, 4th, and 5th, 1997. For additional details please see the ad on the preceding page. A

Great Lakes is in need of a new editor starting with the January/Febtvary issue of the newsletter. I will continue as editor through the end of the year. Interested members should contact Darryl Smith at 2251 Wayne Madison Rd., Trenton, OH 45067-9760 in writing. Newsletter editor is not a BoD position; however, the format and some of the legal babble must meet with BoD approval. One of the benefits of being newsletter editor is that you receive all of the newsletters from the other HMGS chapters. In reality only six chapters send them, but they prove to be quite interesting.

Board of Directors elections will be held in January of 1998. Those interested in running should submit a short biography for the newsletter. The biographies will appear in the November/December issues of the newsletter along with the ballot. Voting instructions will accompany the ballot. See "Candidates for the HMGS-GL BoD elsewhere in this issue.

Historical Gaming at Origins seemed to be a great success, there were certainly a gob of events, run muchly by Great Lakers I'm happy to say. Pete Panzer and Chris Von Fahnstock did most of the work coordinating with Andon and did a great job.

Historicon seemed to be a great success also, the only downfall seemed to be a shortage of events on Friday and Saturday nights. The space was filled , there just wasn't enough events, maybe they should can the flea market in favor of gaming. It was just a thought.

On the National front, HMGS now has 10 active chapters, 1 provisional chapter - West, and one previous chapter - Rocky Mountain which was dissolved.
