ATC

by Brian O'Leary

I'd like to start off this issue of the newsletter with an apology for the lateness of the last two issues of The Herald. The good news is that quite a number of members arc contributing, the bad news is that almost nothing intended for the last two issues has arrived by the submission date. I would like to thank all of those who contributed, and ask that you please refer to the submission dates listed on the front cover of each issue.

Advance the Colors `97 will be held at the Radisson Hotel and Suites located at 11 S. Ludlow Street in Dayton, Ohio on September 12th through 14th, 1997. The room rate is $89 per night for ATC guests and the phone number is 513-461-4700. Anyone interested in running a game should contact me at 184 N. Union St., Delaware, OH 43015, ph: 614-363-9541.

Ferkin has asked me to mention that Board of Directors elections will be held in January of 1998. There will be at least one BOD seat vacant, so those interested in running should start thinking about putting together a short biography for the newsletter. The biographies will be run in the September/October and November/December issues of the newsletter. Here is the opportunity to decentralize Great Lakes a little more.

Please note that the in the "Friends of GL" section that the Cleveland Soldiery has moved and that they are now running Gameday events.

Since the announcement of Advance the Colors '97 in Dayton, a few of our Columbus area members have expressed varying degrees of dismay with the location. The reason that we stayed at the Dayton site was cost, the next best price for the same amount of space was about $3000 more or over twice as much as the Dayton site. Currently, we are trying to find a permanent site that will allow the convention to grow in future years. Any input from the membership is appreciated.

Oh yea, if any of you are aware of any gaming activities that are in the region and that arc not listed here, please let me know about them.
