Who makes a relatively cheap one? I was even thinking of those 54mm Plastic forts, any thoughts (this one is for Capt Pete)?

Andrew,
For the price of 'one-section' of say '25mm Stonecast' you can do the whole thing and more by modifying some 54mm plastic stuff:

1) Go to Toys R-US. get the Fort Apache set ($11-$14 +/-)
2) This has 6" Walls, two good Block-houses (also VERY good for 25mm w/minimal modification) and a few 'other-things' you can use. Give the kids the excess, but send ME the 54mm teepee, horses and figures (for $5?) if you don't want them. : )
3) The walls are one sided HALF-walls (not 3D) but fit front-to-back perfectly. Also they are 3" too tall. Take big scissors or a paper cutter and cut to EQUAL half heights. [also remove the firing steps and file down extra pieces]
4) Then use model glue to fix the bottom half-wall to the back of the top-front portion. They all fit together on the ends.
5) Glue and putty the gaps and the back of the pointy stockade tops. Trim them with heavy "TOENAIL CLIPPERS" (BTW: these are my secret weapon tool for ALL tasks! Get some! Especially the straight -edged type, w/out a curved clip.]
6) The pointy little 'stockade points' at the TOP of the walls will only be on one side/section but they are almost 3D already and will need minimal putty.
7) For firing steps you can either (a) Return the plastic ones (cut-grooves and use model glue) or (b) use hobby sticks to construct planking (or both).
8) Glue a couple sections together and mount in clay on a metal/plastic Base, (BIG heavy washers are good too) use lots of white glue to secure the bottom well. You can also assemble the entire Fort onto a big base so it is all permanently secure.
9) Spray paint black/ or dark brown, DRY BRUSH with TAN, high-light with yellow. Paint the base green or sprinkle with sand, or grass flock. For dirt, dry brush with yellow. When "painted-up" it looks GREAT!
10) "viola!" A section of "3D" wall is ready, you can make a whole fort, OR: two sets will enclose a whole town. (along with block houses and other stuff)
11) You can do a lot with a little bit of stuff like that, yes it takes a little bit of crafty/work, [but ftin none the less, learn to enjoy that part!] AND you can say: "I MADE THAT!" [AND ALL for less than $15]
Now, I bet that's what you musta meant by: "Who makes a relatively cheap one?
