Greetings! As Brian mentioned in Issue # 10 of the Herald, I was appointed treasurer of HMGS-GL by the new board at our first meeting. It was decided that since you, the members, elected us to the BOD, the board should be accountable to you. This accountability will include regular reports as to the financial status of the chapter. One of the first orders of business for r ie as treasurer was to facilitate the transfer of the bank account from the former treasurer. Since I live in Dayton, it was decided to close out the old account, which was located at a Columbus bank, and open a new account here. The previous treasurer closed the old account and forwarded a check to me for the balance of the treasury. This was deposited in a new account (in the chapter name) at Society National Bank in Dayton. In addition, our Membership Secretary has forwarded dues from new members as well as membership renewals; these have also been deposited in the account. To date, no expenditures of treasury funds have been made. At our most recent BOD meeting held on 2 April 1996, there was some discussion of reimbursing BOD members who have spent quite a bit of their own money for club business. These expenses are associated with the cost of printing and mailing the Herald, as well as mailings for membership recruiting. By far the largest of these expenses have been for postage. No decision was made at the meeting to reimburse these expenses at this time; the issue will be discussed at future meetings. The Board has decided that our primary goal currently is to ensure that we have adequate funds to cover costs associated with Advance the Colors'96, which will include additional mailings, as well as the cost of the facility itself. Our recent recruiting efforts have been fairly successful; if this trend continues, we should be in good financial shape for the convention. Summary of treasury activity (as of 6 April 1996):
