Election Results

by Brian O'Leary

The election results are in and the new Great Lakes BoD is as follows:

Darryl Smith President
Scott Savory Treasurer
Ron Bixel
Matt Davidson Vice President
Ferkin Doyle Membership Secretary
Dave Preuss
Brian O'Leary Secretary

The BoD has already met twice and Great Lakes is a hoppin'. Work on the HMGS-Great Lakes flagship convention is underway, a minicon is in the works, and Gamedays will be revamped partially with information gained from the survey enclosed in this issue.

Our flagship convention has re-manifested itself as Advance the Colors '96. It will be held at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Dayton at 11 S. Ludlow St. just off of Route 75 on October 25th, 26th, and 27th, 1996. 1 don't have the official contact info currently. but if you contact Ferkin or myself, we will get the information you need. Effort has been made to make Advance the Colors more "user friendly" than Rally 'Round the Flag was. All attendees will receive a free continental breakfast and free parking for the duration of the convention. The site is more accessible from the highway, is much more convenient for dealers, and features newly remodeled rooms by the Radisson, as well as, an in house restaurant. A food court is across the street.

The name Rally 'Round the Flag apparently will not be used by HMGS Great Lakes until a misunderstanding about rights to the name is straightened out.

Great Lakes is working on a one day minicon with CAG (Cincinnati Adventure Garners) to be held in June of this year. The con is planned be held in the Cinci area. More information next issue.

Great Lakes membership is continuing to climb. Look at the new recruits listed in this issue. Our current total is somewhere around 85 members.

In this issue you will find a gamemaster form for Origins '96. If you are interested in running an event at Origins '96, please fill out the form and send it to Ferkin Doyle, 28 Carriage Dr., Delaware, Oh. 43015 by March 15th. Origins wants to see how many games HMGS-Great Lakes can sponsor. Although, no agreement has been made, they are interested in making a special arrangement with us if we can sponsor a significant number of historical miniatures events.

After receiving a nasti-gram from the HMGS National BoD, Pacific South West has decided that it is more hassle than it's worth to quit HMGS.
