First, I'd like to thank the members of the BOD and our illustrious president Darryl Smith for their efforts in getting Great Lakes going earlier this year. I'd also like to thank the other Great Lakes members who attended the meetings and contributed to the organization.

Probably the most important bit of news regarding Great Lakes is the cancellation of Rally 'Round the Flag '94. The late start on the convention caused problems in securing an affordable facility; however, work will begin in a more timely fashion for'95. There has been talk about a one day mini-con for Great Lakes members in the near future. I'll let you know more as soon as I hear it. Anyone interested in helping with the convention or with ideas regarding the location please contact the BOD.

Unfortunately, Chris Hensley has found it necessary to resign his post on the BOD. Chris contributed greatly during the early part of the year in getting Great Lakes rolling: we will miss him. Since it will be necessary to fill the open BOD seat, interested members should contact the BOD at the HMGSGL address listed on the front cover.

I'm currently pushing to get a membership directory out by mid October. The directory will allow members to get in touch with one another and hopefully make the more isolated members less isolated. The directory will be updated each August with new members being listed regularly in The Herald.
