Another cunning idea from “And That’s the Way It Was” (213 3rd Street NE, Hickory, NC 28601-5124) by Patrick Wilson TSATF – The Event Deck $18.00 USD. The deck consists of 48 cards - 19 British and Native, 6 universal misery (effects both sides) and 2 blanks for your own crafty design. The cards are made for laminating, if you want, and have printed lines for cutting out, very nice. The cards are to be used at the player’s discretion; there is no set rule(s) for using them. These are like chance cards in Monopoly. A few types of card include:
The Water’s Gone/Poisoned Victory/Defeat on another field It’s an Ambush Reinforcements Weather We Will Not Follow That Dog! The cards describe the effect(s) and the consequences that mostly concern morale, firing, reinforcement, and movement, boy that’s enough to throw you off your game by adding a measure of uncertainty. Personally, I will laminate the blank cards first and use erasable markers so that the blanks could really add a bit of misery to the game. I would really like to see an extra sheet of blanks for both the Event Deck and the Dynamite Deck available for purchase. I think this is a great idea and it has in turn given me all sorts of ideas for other Event/Dynamite cards. These are highly recommended for use with TSATF and if you are using another rules set (why???)(OK, OK there are other good rules out there) these could still be used with them. See Patrick Wilson’s letter for further ideas and inspiration.
