It wasn’t too many years ago that I would have loads of intelligence to report; this issue only has seven items. Hopefully, sometime soon the economic turn down will turn up, and I can report more. There are now several readers who game with 54mm figures, so I will be adding them to the annual October Guide to manufacturers. Before the next issue Ben and I are off to visit my father in New Jersey, visit hobby and game shops along the way and stop overnight in Lancaster PA for a leisurely stroll through the dealers area at Historicon and may be look in on a few games. I have a couple of items that Don Featherstone sent me (keep’em coming Don) that will begin in the next issue (first one is on the Battle of Tamai). Also next issue will have an article on casualties in German East Africa—-very enlightening for rules writers. My business abilities are rather negligible and so with this issue and continuing on until they are all printed, except for the color prints will be much of the uniform material Mark Keigwin and I put together years ago for the Heliograph’s Guide to German Colonial Uniforms. It sold all of 20 copies and was never reprinted, but it was enough to help the Heliograph along for several years. I have been working on my scenery plans and have worked out the design for my 2 by 2 foot squares (20 terrain squares for the 4 by 8 foot table should give me 100s of variations. More next issue with the conclusion of the terrain article I started several years ago. June/July in the History of the British Empire saw: War in China, 1841; Storming of the Taku Forts, 1859; the Red River Expedition, Canada, 1870; Bombardment of Alexandria, Egypt, 1882; beginning of the Boxer Rebellion, 1900. Plenty of gaming ideas for you until next issue! DON’T FORGET, PLEASE, IF THE NUMBER ON YOUR MAILING LABEL IS 137 IT IS TIME TO REENLIST FOR THE HELIOGRAPH FOR ANOTHER YEAR.
