A moment of silence please, to remember Chuck Vadun, gentleman and fellow gamer. Almost IntelligenceBoy, don’t ever write: “I hope my wife doesn’t read this” and think she won’t see it. As I was putting together last issue my wife picked up the Intelligence section and said what’s this mean. Then I had to explain what Lead Fever was. She just gave me that look, and said if you can buy more so can I. Oh, Boy! Now what to do. Well, painting figures continues, among which were two units (40 figs) of Belgian Askaris, two of Gurkhas (41 figs), mounted and dismounted English camel corps 24 men and a few camels, four gun crews two each Egyptian and captured Egyptian and 11 paper huts. Already on the table and primed are three mounted (1 horse, 2 camel) Mahdist/Fuzzy cavalry units (36 men, 24 camel 12 horses), and 2 Egyptian camel corps (24 and 24). No dismounted yet. I have been read some of Jules Verne I had not read yet and found several books well worth reading for their literary value and ideas. Five Weeks in a balloon has my wife looking for fabric to cover a Styrofoam ball to help make a balloon, also for a Lost World adventure. I also read Into the Niger Bend and A City in the Sahara. These two books are only available separately but should be considered as one. I will write more later but if you get the chance there are numerous FFL as well as exploration ideas for West Africa here (as well as VicSciFi). If you see a book or figure review here and it inspires you to place an order tell them where you saw the review as it helps us both remain in the hobby. DON’T FORGET, PLEASE, IF THE NUMBER ON YOUR MAILING LABEL IS 130 IT IS TIME TO REENLIST IN THE HELIOGRAPH FOR ANOTHER YEAR.
