Coming up in 2002 will be the following major subjects, should you wish to send something along (PLEASE) this would be the time to do it as I have no articles left. The major thrust of the February and April Issues will be the skirmishes, scenarios and OBs for the Philippine Insurrection. The June and August Issues will be devoted to the Dahomey War from French sources. I may even order some Dahomey War and Moro figures to review unless someone out there has some and will write a review. Of Course, the issues will still have the typical figure, book and rules reviews in the (almost intelligent) Intelligence Section. October will include an updated Guide to Figures, probably with more of a break down of who has what troop types rather than just what wars they cover, as well as addresses that were not included this time. The past several years appear to have been a flat time for colonials, but I see more figures coming down the line that makes it better. It appears Foundry has all but stopped production of Colonial figures. Their Victorian figures catalog indicated that they stopped producing their old lines of colonial figures and would pick them back up this past summer. Well, that obviously didn’t happen and according to the web site it doesn’t look like anytime in the near future either, especially since they seem to be concentrating on ‘Street Violence’, Greeks and orcs. On the bright side there are more colonial war figure manufacturers than I ever thought a year ago. Some of the better news includes: Italian/Abyssinian War figures available in 28mm from at least three great companies, with more figures coming. Return to Darkest Africa by Copplestone is in full-fledged movement with loads of figures just out since last issue (see the review). Castaway Arts has some new 28mm Early Mahdists (see the review), Cannon Fodder has more Yangpats, and Old Glory has more figures than we can count for the colonial period. I will also be getting back to my scenery construction article next issue.
