The following is a brief review of figures picked up at Historicon (summer 2001). All figures were measured from top of base to eye level for consistency, since headgear can be different heights. If figures were consistently the same height it is noted after the company name, otherwise after the figure. I have not scanned these figures for you, as I bought these to make myself a guide and to give most of them away. 25mm and largerBicorne 27 1/2 mm C5 Italian Abyssinian War, Italian, nicely detailed will fit with all other figures for this war. Falcon UK, 26mm to eyes (average) East Africa Colonial and WWI COL 2 Italian Regular Officer (26mm), sword raised in right arm. COL 4 Italian Askari Officer (27 1/2 mm), right arm raised. Both these figures will fit with Bicorne, Strategiae and Cannon Fodder Italians to expand the Italian units, however, they are not as detailed. COL 5 German Schutztruppen advancing (26mm) Will work with HLBS figures, nice detail, some flash. COL6 German Askari advancing, neck-cloth, nice detail especially the eagle on the fez, some flash. COL 7 British Askari advancing (25mm) nice detail, while short to eyes the overall bulk of figure will allow it to be used with larger 25s definitely NOT Minifigs or 30s. COL 8 German Officer (25 1/2 ) in sunhelmet with Mauser in right hand, he’s small, but again bulk will allow it to be used with larger 25s. COL 9 German Askari, kneeling, firing, has bedroll and haversack. COL 10 German Schutztruppen, kneeling, firing, nice detail. Honourable Lead Boiler Suit Company German Camel Corps Southwest Africa GCM1 Camel Corps, two troopers and two camels both camels have a slightly different stance and equipment hanging on the saddle. There are also differences with the troopers, one left hand gun on right, and the hat is slightly different. GCM3 Camel Corps Command, two officers and two camels, again the camels have differences in stance and equipment. The officers have pistols on opposite hips, one is looking through binoculars and the other has his arm up in the halt position. Minifigs 22/23mm Indian Mutiny Command Parroom Station (London War Room) 28mm EXT 1 Captain Jack Cole EXT 2 Henry Jeckyl EXT 3 Edward Hyde All three of these are nicely detailed and will fit with Foundry and most others of the same scale. CDMU 3 Sverdvolk Martians with Sverdlinker (swords) obviously for Space 1889 and very nice figures, a trifle thin and compares well with the original boxed figures for the game. Reviresco 23mm German Schutztruppen Mixed Officers, ok detail while thin could mix with Minifigs Strategiae Tattica 25 1/2 mm A8 Italian Abbyssinian War, Italian soldier will fit with all other 28mm figs for this war. 20mmNewline Design 20mm ZW1 British infantry command, slightly smaller than plastics, could use with some Ultimate 25s as long as they are not in same unit. Beautiful detailing. 15mmEssex , 15mm to eyes Sudan OC57 six figure British command, these are the best detailed 15s I have seen. Falcon UK 15mm Chinese-Taiping to Boxer Rebellion expanding range, currently there are 18 different packs of Chinese and 4 Japanese. CW1 Chinese advancing with rifle, ok detail. Fantassin 17mm Spanish-American War DN-20 Detail ok, measuring 17mm these are the biggest of the 15 and will only work with themselves. Freikorps 14mm Spanish-American War SWA1 nice detail, slighter than other 15s, also smaller, might go ok on table with others but not in same unit. Lancashire 15mm Sudan BE1 British Infantry advancing, nice detail, fits with Essex and Old Glory, and may be Falcon UK but not in same unit. CE1 Hadendowa foot, thicker bases will have to be taken into account if mixing with Essex and some Old Glory. Old Glory 16mm Sudan COW10 British Naval Brigade with command, 4 Off., 8 NCOs arm raised, and 44 OR in three different poses. Will fit with Essex and Lancashire and probably Falcon UK Back to The Heliograph # 127 Table of Contents Back to The Heliograph List of Issues Back to Master Magazine List © Copyright 2001 by Richard Brooks.
