With the Old Corps
in Nicaragua

Book Review

by George B. Clark, Presidio Press, 2001, 24.95.

I found this in Barnes and Nobles and thought that since I had just bought some Old Glory Marines and Infantry from their SAW line I might as well have some ideas. This is full of action reports of small patrol of generally less than 30 Marines or Marines and Guardia against upwards of 400 rebels. The read is pretty and very much Corps oriented, some of which I found tedious but as one of their bumper stickers says “When it absolutely, positively has to be destroyed overnight, (send the) Marines”.

There is enough material here to keep anyone skirmishing for a year with a game a week. This is full of skirmish scenarios with OBs all worth using. This is just what I had in mind for my Marine and Army skirmish actions in the late colonial period but I think I’ll leave out the airplanes at first. Nearly every action has an OB, there are at least six scenario maps, photos and much more.
