The latest from Larry Brom’s The Sword and the Flame Scenario Portfolio 2000, Scenarios 13 to 18. Scenario # 13, Boer war, capture the Boer Provincial Government, interesting version of capture the flag. Scenario # 14, Darkest Africa, save the mine in the sacred mountains until the relief force arrives. Good idea lots of dense jungle to hide the natives in. Scenario # 15, Sudan, surprise the Dervish, I like this idea of setting up behind a curtain, I get screwed every time, hummm must be a message there. Scenario # 16, Indian versus Pathan in a capture the bridgehead operation. Scenario # 17, Anglo-Indian versus Pathan in a patrol scenario with no officers, but a gatling gun, great map. Scenario # 18, Zulu War, Impi versus entrenched camp. Very nice map. The scenario ideas are good, the rules variants for the scenarios are good and best of all the maps are GREAT. Also enclosed are three pages of “Viable Variants” from Larry and several others, ideas include speeding up games, attacking walled forts (my favorite), variable weapon ranges, National characteristics, Musicians, Standard Bearers and Medics, and Ten man Sections. All of these are loaded with ideas for use with TSATF.
