Eureka Miniatures Colonial Line

Figure Review

by Richard Brooks

I got a sampling of colonial figures from Eureka and they are some very nice specialty figures for the colonial period. Unless, of course, you are playing their rules set called Pax Limpopo and Pig Sticking. Check out their web site for further information on the rules and the figures that go with them because they are rather unique, getting the cavalry off horses and on to penny-farthings (giant wheel bicycles). There are also steam powered armor suits that look very interesting. I hope this catches on when Eureka displays their figures and rules at Historicon. I shall be there in the dealers area spending money, hope to see you all there.

The figures sent include:

PAXPYG 2 Pygmy Witchdoctor
PAXPYG 3 Pygmette, the chief’s daughter
PAXPYG 5 Pygmy with blowpipe
These are not a pc pygmy, they all have very large feet and the witchdoctor a huge stomach. But these are great figures, beautifully sculpted, well animated and should go well with Foundry’s Pygmies. I love the animation.

PAXP 6 Cassandra, belly dancer and spy, very nicely sculpted, this should heat up and melt your FFL figures.

PAXP 8 Otto Van Tannenbaum Prussian Spy, looks somewhat alien in the face and head, holding a cigarette, iron cross, very sinister figure.

PAXGR 8 Chinese accomplice Girl with bob hair cut
PAXGR 9 Chinese accomplice Girl with pig tail
These two figures will go very nicely with the Fu Manchu figure I have as his daughter and slave.

PAXGR 2 Bobby running with hand-cuffs and billy club
PAXGR 3 Bobby fast walking, fat cop with billy club
Both of these figures have helmets that are way too big and are humorous figures but nice to have to use as British keystone cops.

100COL01 African captive male
100COL02 African captive female
These two figures are definitely not PC. But if you use the Zanzibari Arabs as slave traders then you have to have these figures. I think these are great and very useful. I am not sure but I think there are either four or six different males in this same number as well as four different females.

On the whole I am impressed with Eureka figures and am awaiting what goodies Nic brings to Historicon.
