Greg Blake has sent me some new figures from his Yangpat (Yangtze Patrol) line that I find outstanding for which I will thump Greg for turning me to another period - colonial or not. Last issue, although the reproduction stunk, as it does this issue, there were several of these new figures shown, well here are the scans and I love them, no not the scans the figures. Along with these are further figures for the Alamo, also very nice. Actually, since Travis and Bonham are both from Saluda County, SC the local historical society, at my urging, is thinking of constructing an Alamo diorama with these Cannon Fodder figures once the line is further along and they can scrape up the money. Along with the figures a friend of Greg's named John O'Connell produces boats, see the web site for examples that are really, really very nice. The web site shows six vessels: US Yangtze patrol boat, three HMS ships, Russian destroyer and a Nile steamer. Contact John at oco@bigpond.com I have included a scan below sent by Greg. Review FiguresUSN 1: Officer firing pistol: This is my favorite so far. The action pose just screams great. USN 2a: Sailor with rifle: Useful pose on guard. USN 2b: same as 2a but with legs closer together. USN 2c: the same as 2a but with helmet. USN 3: Sailor with BAR: A Somewhat awkward pose, but very useful for the range. USN 4: Petty Officer with riot-gun: Another useful pose "move you swabbies". USN 5: Deck Officer: Kind of a weird pose but this looks like a deck officer should-aloof, distracted but on watch. Very nice uniform. USN 6: Sailor in summer dress (shorts), with cap and open hands. USN 7: Sailor in dungarees, standing with head to right, open hands. WI 1: Warlord Officer firing Pistol. WI 2: Warlord Bodyguard: Useful figure can't wait for the rest. Other figures in the range: WI 3: Warlord Infantry Other figures in the range that are planned include: Deck Crew in summer dress, "Black crew" engine room crew in trousers and shirts, CPO Deck officer in summer dress, Sailor with rifle on a small base for use on the deck, landing party sailor in helmet with rifle and fixed bayonet, landing party Lewis Gun team Overall impression and figures I'd like to see in this range: Very nicely detailed uniforms, and WOW! I really like this range. I will construct a boat, sooner or later, to go with these sailors and others against all my Chinese troops. I would like to see a Petty Officer firing his shotgun from the hip, A BAR gunner firing from his knees and a few more sailors with and without helmets with rifles. TX 8: William Barrett Travis: Commanding Officer of the Alamo TX 9: "Joe" Travis's servant TX 10: Jim Bowie, half dressed, up from sick bed, blade in hand TX 16: "Mad Mike" charging with hatchet, musket in a top hat Overall, I am really impressed with this range and the level of sculpting is top notch, great job Greg.
