NEWS FLASH!!

See below (number 34) if you game with standard 25s as Ral Partha figures are now available again.

While I don’t have anything ready for the scenery I am attempting to make, I did get around to painting three units. Two units of about 22 Askaris (I think these are Elite Miniatures) in yellowish khaki with blue puttees and red fez, kind of generic Askaris, and 20+ Chinese pirates from The Foundry. They all painted up quite easily. Although I started out using a black base coat and acrylic hobby paints and found they don’t cover the black, especially using light colors as well as they should. So I switched over to those two-ounce plastic hobby paint bottles you get from places like Michael’s Craft stores and got the coverage I wanted. The regular hobby paints seem to dry up rather quickly and don’t necessarily respond to adding water to them. On the other hand the plastic bottles I bought four or more years ago are as good now as then. So it looks as though I am on a painting spree, which is very unusual for me so I am not going to stop now and start on scenery. I have several other units and individual figs primed and started. I will get back to the scenery soon.

I was in the university library recently conducting work related research and while taking a break from that came across several books on the colonial period. I have chosen one for this issue to create a scenario for which will allow you to use those West Indian Regiment figures from Castaway Arts. It should lead to good gaming.

DON’T FORGET, PLEASE, IF THE NUMBER ON YOUR MAILING LABEL IS 123 IT IS TIME TO REENLIST IN THE HELIOGRAPH FOR ANOTHER YEAR.
